Adult Opportunities
Women’s league
NCFHA hosts a variety of events to women of all skill levels. Players are drafted onto teams in during the Winter season to compete against each other at Stanford. In the Spring, there is a series against other high-level players in the area. The winning team from this series is eligible to represent Northern California at the USFHL National Championship.
Men’s League
BAFHA exists to encourage and promote men’s field hockey in the San Francisco bay area. There are 6 clubs in the league: East Bay Eagles, San Francisco, Marin, Palo Alto, San Jose Khalsa, and NorCal Sharks. Games are played on the international standard artificial turf at UC Berkeley. There is a range of abilities on all teams from novices to current national team members.
Co-ed Social
Fog City field hockey was developed to spread the love of field hockey to young and old in the Bay Area. Weekly pick-up scrimmages in San Francisco are open to everyone, whether you are new to the sport or an ex-national team player. It’s an incredibly welcoming community of hockey lovers who are very social, grabbing pizza at the nearby pub after each mid-week session. Be sure to RSVP on their Facebook page.
Tournaments
There are variety of opportunities throughout the year for teams to represent the Bay Area in competitions locally and out-of-state. From casual grass games to international caliber matches, there is something for everyone. Regularly check our community calendar for more information.
Masters
The USA Field Hockey Masters Team is for athletes over 35 years old, competing in the FIH (International Hockey Federation) Masters Hockey World Cup. In addition to the Masters World Cup, there is the Grand Masters World Cup organized by the World Grand Masters Association (WGMA), for those 60 years of age and older. The olympic club
The Olympic Club is a private athletic club in San Francisco with over a dozen highly competitive amateur sports teams. The Field Hockey team is comprised of former NCAA DI female athletes and international club players who aim to compete at the highest level nationally and internationally. Locally, the OlyClub field hockey team plays in the NCFHA Spring Invitational Series and competes against the collegiate teams to help them train. To learn more, email olyclubfieldhockey@gmail.com
